Local Transport

One of the best public transport networks in the world

Getting around Madrid is very easy. Madrid has one of the best public transport networks in the world that allows you to get anywhere in a very short time. But, if you prefer to use other means of transport, you can also find all kinds of electric vehicles.

Metro de Madrid is the fastest way to travel around the city. It has 294 Km of line and more than 300 stations that connect all parts of the city.

It is very easy to use. You just have to look at the color or number of the line where your station is and choose the platform in the right direction.

To travel by metro you will need a transport card. You can buy it at the machines in the metro.

The nearest metro station from the CTC 2022 Congress is CIUDAD UNIVERSITARIA – Line 6 Circular (grey line).

BiciMAD, THE WHITE BIKES

A fun, simple and sustainable means of transport, enjoyed by all bike lovers. Madrid has its own electric bicycle rental service, BiciMAD, so that all residents and visitors can move from one place to another doing some exercise in a comfortable and fast way. It has a total of 264 stations and 2964 bicycles distributed in 15 districts of the city of Madrid.

If you decide to take one, be careful with the traffic and make sure you know the rules of the road, for your own safety.

To use them, you must first obtain a BiciMAD card. You need to register at the totem next to any bike station (you will need a passport/ID number and a credit or debit card).

To use the service during the congress, it is best to get an «OCCASIONAL CARD» for 1, 3 or 5 days. This card is free and you will only be charged for the trips you make. However, when you register you will have to make a deposit of 150€, which will be refunded at the end of the use of the voucher.

In addition, it is recommended to use the app (if you are an occasional user, on the first screen you will see «map» at the top right) to have more convenient information on occupancy and availability of bicycles.

And how to start using them?

Very easy: to remove the bike, the base must have the green light. To return it, the base must have the red light. If it is blue it means that the bike has been reserved by another user.

It is not mandatory to wear a helmet, although it is recommended.

Remember: It is a service to make journeys, so using it  beyond 2 hours is penalized (price 1 hour: 2€; 2 hours: 4€. Thereafter, they will charge 4€ per hour).

Remember: These bikes are rented and returned at the points provided for this purpose.

MoBike, THE ORANGE BIKES
